HP Printers
HP is a household name and a world leader in the manufacture of personal computers, inkjet printers, laser printers, scanners, digital cameras, calculators, personal digital assistants, servers, and multifunctional office devices. They are a Fortune 500 listed company ranked 56th in 2021. The company employs over 53,000 staff globally. The global Covid pandemic proved to be beneficial to the personal computer and printer manufacturing giant. They reported strong sales of personal computers and printers, driven to no small degree by many more people working from home. Although they are a well-established competitor in the PC market, they are still best known for their range of HP printers. The range on offer covers everything from basic desktop colour inkjet units to the Indigo Press, which is a digital print-on-demand replacement for conventional offset litho-printing presses.
The company has developed many unique print technologies over the years, including an inkjet printer which is capable of very high print speeds. Their PageWide print head technology uses a stationary print head spanning the full width of the print surface, allowing for incredible speed while the image is applied to the paper. Competitor companies all employ a print head that moves from side to side over the print surface. The vast product range, including specialised, niche market, and mainstream office and home use HP printers means that the company has a product for every imaginable application.
Engage With the Best Supplier
With just under 1000 authorised resellers in South Africa, how does one choose the right company to buy HP printers from? This very much depends on what your company’s specific requirement is. There are a variety of print applications that HP printers address which fall outside the everyday home or office requirement and are considered niche or specialist applications. For example, HP has a product offering designed for the large format and outdoor print market. In this case, you need a supplier that understands the specific target industry’s needs. In the example cited, this would typically be a product for the signage or outdoor advertising market.
The Indigo Press is another example of a product offering that falls outside the requirements of most general commercial clients. Indigo digital print-on-demand solutions are suited to particular environments, typically print-for-pay or print-production environments. Once again, selling and supporting these solutions is a specialist proposition that requires expertise specific to the target industry. Look for a supplier that has a track record in supplying solutions to the particular industry in which you operate.
