If you are in the market for a printer at the moment and are searching online for a printer for sale, you will soon discover that there are many choices. Which of a number of well-known manufacturers do you look at (never mind the brands you have not seen before)? Which technology should you go for: inkjet or laser? Should you go for a device that can only print or should you look at a multifunctional device?
Inkjet or Laser?
The vast majority of devices for sale will be inkjet or laser and most businesses and home users looking for a printer for sale will choose either inkjet or laser. Inkjet devices produce prints by spraying microscopic droplets of ink onto paper in a precisely controlled process. Inkjet machines are usually less costly and can be used to print both text documents and high-quality colour images such as photographs. The primary drawback of inkjet printers is the cost per print, as replacement ink cartridges tend to be expensive. The print speed of an inkjet printer (especially smaller units) is low. Inkjet technology is very good at printing photographs and graphic-intensive documents because they do a better job of blending colours than laser devices do.
Laser devices produce prints using heat and pressure to melt toner powder onto paper to create an image. Laser devices are more costly than inkjet ones and use more expensive toner cartridges but can still be a better cost option as they usually produce prints at a lower cost per page with faster print speeds than an inkjet printer. They are good at printing crisp text and are capable of very high print speeds. If you have a site, such as an office, which produces a high volume of text documents, laser is the technology for you.
Chosen Your Technology? Now What?
You have decided which technology is best for you but now you will need to decide where to purchase your device from. The temptation is to go to a mass retail outlet offering low prices in their “printer for sale” flyers and buy something off the shelf. This may be suitable for home use but the more demanding the environment, the more important it becomes that you approach a company with real expertise. Respected office equipment suppliers such as Raydian provide a range of devices at competitive prices to suit most requirements.
At Raydian, we are aware that buying a printer may represent a substantial capital outlay and have years of experience with specifying solutions that will provide a unit that is fit for the task and cost effective.
