Printer Cartridges for Sale – What are the Options?
Many consumers only search for “printer cartridges for sale” when the unit in the printer that they bought runs empty for the first time. It is at this point that they discover that replacement consumables for their printer are expensive and may cost almost the same as the printer itself.
It is far better to ask the right questions at the time the printer is purchased and engage with a supplier that can provide advice on which printer best suits your needs. Advice should not only focus on the initial purchase price but also on the long-term running cost of the device.
Using this approach means that you don’t need to sift through a long list of printer cartridges for sale, trying to figure out who you can trust and which of the cartridge options are best in terms of price, quality, and reliability. If the supplier you buy your printer from offers a range of printers from all the leading brand manufacturers and stocks original equipment manufacturer (OEM) consumables, you won’t need to be looking for printer cartridges for sale yourself. It will be even better if the company you buy your printer from stocks a range of quality compatible (generic) printer cartridges for the printers that they sell.
The Invention of the Inkjet Printer
HP introduced the ThinkJet (thermal inkjet) in 1984, pioneering inkjet technology and largely ending the reign of the noisy dot matrix printer in most businesses. Using “wet” printer ink, inkjet technology developed at HP was soon introduced in high-quality, low-priced personal printers that most users could afford.
The first HP DeskJet printer, based on inkjet technology, using printer ink contained in cartridges, came to market in February 1988. Over 240 million DeskJet printers have been sold worldwide since then, and more than 18 million are still being sold each year. The market for consumables for these printers is massive and consequently attracts profit-seeking, third-party manufacturers.
OEM versus Compatible Printer Cartridges for Sale
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cartridges are manufactured specifically to fit your printer by the company that manufactured your printer. OEM consumables are generally reliable and made to strict quality standards. They seldom fail, produce the best quality prints, and come with a bankable warranty.
New compatible printer cartridges are made by third-party manufacturers using all-new compatible parts. They are essentially copies of the OEM unit. Some of the new compatible printer cartridges for sale may offer good quality prints and equivalent print yields, but there are compatibles that are noticeably inferior to the OEM offering. There are many compatible printer cartridges for sale, and it’s often difficult to tell which ones are good and which ones are terrible. New compatible cartridges can be a good choice if your priority is to reduce your document output costs.
OEM consumables are more expensive than compatible cartridges but offer the best solution if they can be afforded.
Finding Compatible Printer Cartridges for Your Printer
If you have purchased your printer from a general retail outlet and not a printer sales specialist, you will need to do your research and try to establish which printer cartridges fit your device and where the best place is to get replacements from.
The first and most obvious step is to know the model number of your printer. This will be displayed on the front of the device or on the back on a label. In some instances, the label can be found when you open the machine to remove an empty cartridge. If you still cannot find the model number, look for the code on the empty cartridge. The documentation that came with your printer should also provide the model number and the details of the OEM cartridges that fit the device.
Once you know the model number of your printer, you can look online for the correct printer cartridges or opt for the much easier option of contacting a reputable printer and print consumables supplier, such as Raydian.
