HP Printers: Which One is Right for You?
If you’re brand loyal and a fan of HP printers, when the time comes for you to replace your old unit or expand your print capacity, you will realise that there are many models on offer. Deciding on which of the many models to go with can be challenging. HP is a household name and a world leader in the manufacture of consumer and commercial electronics. They are well known for their product offering in the inkjet, laser printer, and multi-functional device arena. The printer range they offer covers everything from basic desktop colour inkjet units to the Indigo press, which is a digital, print-on-demand replacement for conventional offset lithography.
Printers are some of the most enquired about tech products on the market. They offer many possibilities with an array of features and functions. If handled with care, even a consumer model printer should last many years, so it’s essential to choose one that will suit your needs for years to come. With so many options available, how do you narrow down the options? Bigger and more costly isn’t necessarily better if a less costly model will meet your needs? Whether you need a unit for home or business, having a variety of choices ensures that you can find a unit that meets all your needs.
HP’s spend on research and development (R&D) in 2020 was in the region of 1.48 billion U.S. dollars with HP holding over 4,000 patents on printer consumables alone. The vast product range, including specialised, niche market and mainstream office and home use units, means that the company has a product for every imaginable application.
Inkjet Based or Laser-Based HP Printers?
An inkjet printer is the technology type most often used for printing and copying in the home. A typical photo printer or all-in-one printer will probably be an inkjet. Full-colour inkjet machines come with at least four colours of ink, namely cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. This technology is better suited to lower-volume, higher-quality print applications where the quality of high-end graphics is the primary concern. Laser printers are more often encountered in industrial and office settings, although lasers are now also available for home use, they use a laser, toner cartridge, and light-sensitive drum to add toner powder to the page in just the right quantities to replicate the digital image being printed. Most laser printers for home use produce only black-and-white prints, but there are also colour machines available.
Choosing The Best Supplier
How do you choose the right company to buy from, bearing in mind that just under 1000 authorised resellers of HP printers exist in South Africa? Although this depends to some extent on what your company’s specific requirement is, going with experience and expertise benefits any end user. A large variety of print applications, that HP printers address, will fall outside everyday home or office use being targeted at niche or specialist applications. Whatever the case, you need a supplier that understands your industry’s specific needs.
