Just as We Thought We Were Out of the Woods, the Threat of Load Shedding Looms
It has been ten years since South Africa was first introduced to the concept of electricity load shedding in 2008. For several years, we had to contend with intermittent interruptions in the electricity supply, and this became South African businesses’ new normal. Many companies made provisions for this and invested in some of the many types of diesel generators for sale. It was a lifesaver to many businesses over the years, but recently, the cloud of load shedding seems to have moved on from South Africa.
Until now, that is. Rumours and reports recently started circulating again of coal shortages at many of Eskom’s power stations. Understandably, this made many South African business owners and entrepreneurs nervous, with the vision of blacked-out neighbourhoods and business districts still fresh in all our minds. With the mention of the far-off possibility of load shedding being on the horizon again, many companies are looking afresh at the possibility of investing in one of the modern diesel generators now for sale to ensure business continuity.
