With a pedigree like the one that HP has, it should be clear to anyone that their printers can be bought with complete peace of mind.
HP Printer Repairs Options
Once HP has been selected as the manufacturer of choice for your new device, the only question left is what kind of after-sales service and support is required. In other words, in the event of technical support being needed, who will you turn to for printer repairs? If you are a home user, for private use, you will probably make a retail purchase and rely on the vendor you bought the device from to handle any technical support required.
This is normally quite acceptable because private home use is typically a low-volume environment with low stress on the equipment. This form of support is usually offered on a ”carry in” basis where the end user takes the unit back to the vendor it was purchased from who, in turn, will send it on to a company accredited to handle HP printer repairs. The downside of this support model is because the vendor does not carry out printer repairs themselves, the turnaround time from the unit being given in for repair to it getting back to the customer can be lengthy.
More convenient support, usually at an additional upfront cost, offers customers on-site repair, on-site exchange, and “pick up, repair and return” options. In practice, some form of remote diagnostics is carried by a technician trained to do HP printer repairs who will diagnose the problem before a technician is sent to site.
Repairs carried out by technicians accredited to do HP printer repairs typically carry a 3-month warranty on all labour and replacement parts. Turnaround time will usually be much better with this kind of support than for carry in, although it is still considered to be “occasional” support. Occasional support falls between the “carry in” support model and full maintenance service contracts and is better suited to the small, home office user.
HP Printer Repairs Full-Service Contracts
The top rung of technical support is a service contract with the manufacturer or an accredited distributor. As a minimum, a service contract will include the labour and materials required for any equipment repairs during the design life of the equipment or for an agreed-upon fixed term. This will include service calls and replacement parts on items that wear or have finite lifespans. A contractual undertaking is given by the service provider to keep the unit operating and producing acceptable quality prints for the term of the contract. There are limits to how far the contracts extend cover for usually set in the form of how many prints or copies per month are included in the service agreement. Service contracts are offered by companies, such as Raydian, who have in-house capacity to do HP printer repairs. View our full range of service contracts here.
