These checks are reliable but do leave open the possibility of false negatives, given the very small sampling area of the infrared laser. For organisations that cannot tolerate this risk, thermal cameras are also available. These thermal cameras provide a temperature scan of the whole field of view and are far less likely to miss an identification of a hazardous temperature reading. These cameras are just as easy to use as the thermometers with a point and shoot design.
